Lillia has a fever. Yesterday her axillary temperature was up to 100.9 F, which is probably somewhere around 102.5 F or above orally. This little girl seemed little affected by this temp—more irritated than anything else, especially when we put her down for naps. Mom and dad were there, of course, with the ibuprofen drops, the juice, the popsicles. She liked the novelty of popsicles, but wasn’t really interested in drinking, though her appetite had not waned. When her diapers started getting lighter during the day we worried about dehydration, but she was active, and her skin turgor seemed good, so we did not rush her to the doctor’s office. Then this morning she powered through 8 ounces of milk so we think she is on the mend, with fever decreasing and runny nose increasing—a typical toddler course.
Suzanne and I have changed our mind about the trip to New Zealand. Traveling to New Jersey to visit grandma Joan just about wore mom and dad out and we are not sure either child or parents are up to the trip. Though we would like to visit.
