Jazz

Lillia is quite fond of Jazz. Swing, Scat, Cool, Afro-Latin, it is all ear-candy to her. We keep the radio tuned to KUVO (89.3 here in Denver, but they webcast as well) which is an excellent jazz station, and enjoy watching Lillia bobbing her head up and down to a well executed riff.

She loves dancing to music, moving her feet in time (more or less) to the kitchen radio, or swinging about at shoulder level with me.

She is of the opinion that I am an excellent dancer. This is likely due, shall we say, to a paucity of real world examples with which to compare her daddy.

Still, I’ll enjoy the complement while I can get it. Soon enough she will be 13 and embarrassed by my car.

Some pictures:

Lillia and Tom dancing to Mr. Stan Getz, displaying both grace and technical skill.

Suzanne reacting to Tom's and Lillia's grace and technical skill.

Love to all,

Tom

The Hippo

Some pictures from Lillia's first swimming lesson. The pool water was 86 degrees but the small one still gets cold during these half-hour sessions. She is practicing many strokes but has so far mastered only "The Hippo" in which she sinks low into the water and twirls her ears when she comes up.

Suzanne is radiant.

And yes, they are both wearing sunscreen.

Bronx-cheer baby.

Doin' "The Hippo."

Later, gater.

Blackbelt

Our new daughter has apparently taken up Aikido. Paparazzi captured this candid image of her returning from her dojo. I imagine we will have to register her tiny hands and feet soon.

Haircut

Lillia is a mellow baby most of the time. Haircuts included, which helps keep mom and dad sane in the presence of rapidly moving sharp objects. There is a great children’s barber here in Denver called Lollilocks, where we have now taken Lillia twice, to good effect.

A couple of pictures:

"Not quite as much off the top as dad, please."
